Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 ended with a cliffhanger and unresolved mysteries, leaving much to be explored for the next season. As such, major events in the season bring anticipation and excitement to the table. From cursed spirits menacingly taking over Tokyo to Yuta Okkotsu’s appearance, the stakes were high. Besides, the ending prompts intense speculation within the fandom about how the story will unfold.
One of the intriguing scenes that captured fans’ attention features towards the end of the last episode, titled ‘Shibuya Incident – Gate Close’. The scene sees Yuji sighing and dramatically clapping, leaving fans wondering about the intention behind Yuji Itadori’s clap.
While this scene takes place against the backdrop of MAPPA’s aesthetically animated dawn, the ensuing spectacle leaves viewers on the edge of their seats. In this visually striking scene, countless cursed spirits show up from the sea. They appear as if they were responding to Yuji’s clap, and that’s where the episode comes to a close.
Why Did Yuji Clap?
One of the speculations involves Yuji and Todo’s deep connection. Todo employs Boogie Woogie, an innate technique which grants him the ability to switch positions with different objects. He activates this technique by merely clapping. Yuji’s clap seems to bear a connection with Todo’s Boogie Woogie. However, this speculation does not seem to have any logical backing.
Hence, the only possible explanation is that Yuji Itadori’s clap could just be a simple clap. But, considering the cursed spirits take the bait and come rushing towards Itadori, his clap could be a tactical approach to facilitate their slaughter. The tragedy that Shibuya had to undergo allowed these cursed spirits to go rogue. Being a strategic jujutsu sorcerer, Yuji’s clap is a way to attract these cursed spirits to exterminate them.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 raises anticipation amongst fans. Moreover, the next arc, i.e., the Culling Game arc, is something that the fandom is betting on, especially after the huge success of the Shibuya Incident arc.
