As the year draws to a close, it’s always nice to take stock of where we’ve been and where we’re going.

The Journal’s goal for the past 21 years has been to provide comprehensive business coverage that connects our Tri-Cities community, and we’ll continue to share it with you in all the ways you want to read it – in print, online, and on the go.

In an industry known for cuts and scale backs, we’ve been adding rich content. 

In May, we began sharing a free curated newsletter that rounds up key business news from around the region and state three times a week.

We rolled out our monthly business-focused lists in September. These lists showcase the Tri-Cities’ top companies or institutions in a particular industry or category, ranked by criteria appropriate to their sector. So far, we’ve highlighted the largest accounting firms, women-owned businesses, leading contractors, top employers and largest social-service nonprofits, among others.

This month’s edition features the top Small Business Administration lenders and commercial real estate firms in our area.

Next December, we’ll combine all this valuable data into a comprehensive Book of Lists, which we think will be a treasure trove for all businesses operating in or near the Tri-Cities.

We unveiled a new website in November that loads faster and provides us with technology that enables us to serve you better. It also will allow us to post content from our sister publication, Senior Times, as never before. 

In 2024, we’ll be hosting two new in-person events to celebrate successes in our business community. 

In May, we’ll recognize the winners in our 17th annual Young Professionals contest. This popular specialty program recognizes up-and-coming leaders under 40.

In November, we’ll celebrate the Best Places to Work in the Mid-Columbia. This new event will showcase the quality employers in our region. These “best places” will be determined using comprehensive employer and employee surveys at no cost to businesses.

We’re pleased to be able to offer these events and provide additional content without raising our subscription rates. 

The Journal’s print + digital subscription rates continue to remain affordable: $24.95 a year. This works out to just over $2 per print issue and includes access to all our exclusive online content and special publications, including the new Book of Lists. There are also options for digital-only subscriptions.
