Japan’s Economy Shrank More Than Estimated in Third Quarter

TOKYO—Japan’s economy contracted at a faster pace than initially estimated in the July-September quarter due to weak consumer spending, revised government data showed Friday.

The economy shrank 2.9% on an annualized basis in the third quarter, compared with the 2.1% contraction recorded in the preliminary estimate released in mid-November.
