A former professional dancer is all set to help people find their inner balance after relaunching her yoga business.
Gemma Cousins first founded Gemma Cousins Yoga in 2015 in London. She ran successful sessions throughout the capital, as well as retreats in exotic locations around the world.
After moving to Fornham St Martin, near Bury St Edmunds, in 2019, and having two children, she is now in the process of relaunching group sessions, one-to-ones and corporate classes.
It also something of a homecoming for the dancer, model, choreographer and yoga teacher, who grew up in Ixworth.
“It’s really exciting to be relaunching the sessions in Suffolk, especially in Fornham, where I am living, which is magical,” said Gemma, 40.

“Teaching in London was great but it was very busy and I loved coming back to Suffolk for the quietness, the peacefulness.
“It’s not just coming to practise yoga but also connecting with other people and building a community with like-minded people.”
Gemma was a professional dancer and model for 15 years.
She danced at events and shows across the world and with popstars including Cheryl Cole, PINK, Mika, Lemar, Ultrabeats and Jamelia.
She also toured worldwide with Kid Creole as one of his ‘Coconuts’.
After leaving the profession in her early thirties, Gemma trained with yoga teachers across the world, in India, Malta, Thailand, London and Italy.
She is currently holding group classes every Tuesday night in Fornham St Martin Village Hall. These include Vinyasa and Yin Yoga sessions.
Along with the classes, she is also taking one-to-one bookings, corporate bookings, and has arranged a five-night yoga retreat in Bordeaux next year.

Gemma has also run retreats in Sri Lanka, Bali and Suffolk.
Gemma said: “The important thing is with yoga, is even though you are getting the benefits physically in terms of flexibility, mobility; it also benefits the mind.
“We are living in a busy, noisy fast-paced world and it is perfect for calming your nervous system and allowing you just just be present.
“It helps with things like stress, anxiety, depression, which many people are suffering with these days.
“Everyone is welcome to the classes. A lot of people think they have to be able to do a headstand, handstand or the splits to practice yoga. But you really don’t, you can just come as you are.”
