(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 2 – Italy registered a surplus in its
trade with non-European Union countries of 8.455 billion euro in
March, the highest level in over 30 years, according to
preliminary data released by Istat on Tuesday.
That compares to non-EU trade deficit of 793 million euro in
March 2022
The national statistics agency added that the non-EU trade
surplus for March climbs to 13.70 billion euros when energy is
excluded, compared with a 7.753-billion-euro surplus in March
2022.
Istat said exports to non-EU27 countries increased by 6.6% and
imports decreased by 28.1% in March compared with the same month
of last year.
In month-on-month terms, on the other hand, exports decreased by
4.6% and imports decreased by 12.9% compared with February 2023.
