ITA Airways has partnered with travel technology and ticketing specialist W2 by GO7 to offer combined air and rail tickets to several destinations in Germany and Switzerland via the Deutsche Bahn network.
The agreement will allow ITA passengers flying from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to Frankfurt airport to continue their journey through Germany or into Switzerland onboard Deutsche Bahn trains via a single ticket.
The destinations currently included in the multi-modal ticket offering are Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Dresden, Munich Bavaria, Leipzig, Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Nuremberg, Munster and Bremen in Germany, and Basel in Switzerland.
The Italian carrier in a statement said the partnership “confirms its commitment to intermodality”, following the May launch of its intermodal partnership with Trenitalia, and will provide “more efficient connectivity” between Germany and Italy.
The carrier said it hopes to expand the intermodal programme further across its network.
Intermodal tickets can be purchased on the carrier’s website, app and ticket offices or via authorised agencies.
