Israel Hunts for Hamas Leaders in Gaza’s Khan Younis

TEL AVIV—The Israeli military is pouring resources into the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis to neutralize Hamas’s top brass, as the enclave’s authorities declared that the death toll in the war had passed 20,000. 

That toll, mostly women and children according to Palestinian health officials, whose numbers don’t distinguish between civilians and militants, would amount to almost 1% of Gaza’s 2.2 million people.
