The Egyptian authorities have detained at least 100 persons for attending unauthorised pro-Palestine protests, reports said, citing lawyers who are working towards securing their release. The government, however, has allowed demonstrations against Israel at some locations in Cairo and other cities.

The death toll from the Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip has crossed 5,700, as per the figures shared by the Gaza Health Ministry. The number of those killed is 5,791, including 2,360 children, ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra was reported as saying. Over 16,200 others are injured, he added, further noting that the government has received reports of 1,550 persons missing, including 870 children.

Israel is offering cash and protection to Gaza residents who could offer whereabouts of the hostages held by Hamas. The offer was made by the IDF in the leaflets it dropped in parts of the besieged region on October 24, reports said.

Israeli airstrikes killed more than 700 in the past day, Hamas-run Health Ministry said. This has pushed up the death toll to to 5,791, including 2,360 children, Gaza official Ashraf al-Qidra was reported as saying. At least 16,297 others have been injured, he added.

The United States Maritime Administration has warned all vessels in the Red Sea to “exercise caution when transiting this region”. This comes a day after the US Navy said it show down a missle and drone that were launched from Yemen. The Houthi forces that control Yemen are Iran-backed, and they have marked their support for Hamas.

Israel-Hamas war live: Gebran Bassil, a top Christian politician of Lebanon who is allied with Hezbollah, said the country would not initiate a war against Israel, but would respond with vigour if attacked. “No one can drag us into war unless the Israeli enemy attacks us, and then we will be forced to defend ourselves,” Bassil was quoted as saying by AP.

Israel-Hamas war live: The Israeli airstrike at a residential building in Khan Younis locality of Gaza Strip has killed 32 persons, the Associated Press reported, citing the survivors. “We were hosting our relatives from Gaza and the northern cities,” a survivor told the news agency, adding that “they were sheltering at our home because we thought that our area would be safe. But apparently there is no safe place in Gaza.”

The war is rapidly raising the death toll in Gaza with officials putting the casualty list in thousands. The Hamas-run Health Ministry said at least 5,087 Palestinians have been killed and 15,270 wounded. Meanwhile in the occupied West Bank, 96 Palestinians have been killed and 1,650 wounded in violence and Israeli raids since October 7. 

The narrow stretch of land with 2.3 million people has also been been running out of food, water and medicine since Israel sealed off the territory following the Hamas attack.

World Bank President Ajay Banga said on Tuesday the world was in a more dangerous place and that it was not business as usual as a result of the Israel-Gaza war.

Banga was speaking to reporters at the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh.

Macron met with 30 relatives of 18 French citizens killed or missing since the Hamas attack on October 7.

Gaza’s Hamas government said Tuesday that Israeli air strikes on the besieged territory during the night killed at least 140 people.

As per the agency’s report, more than 5,000 people have died in Gaza and over 15,000 injured since 7th October. Israeli authorities said Saturday that they believes 210 people are being held hostage in Gaza. Hamas militants have released four hostages so far.

Israeli soldiers have been involved in training exercises vigorously to improve their “readiness and capabilities for ground operations” in Gaza. The military has already mobilized troops on the border. Israel is preparing for a “multilateral operation” against Hamas from the “air, ground, and sea.”

The UN General Assembly will meet on Thursday to discuss the conflict triggered by the attack by Hamas militants on Israel.

The Security Council has so far failed to agree on a resolution concerning the war, but a number of states — including Jordan on behalf of an Arab group of nations, Russia, Syria, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Cambodia — formally requested General Assembly President Dennis Francis to schedule the meeting.

Only five of the 15 member states had supported the text, which condemned all violence against civilians and all terrorist acts, but did not name Hamas.

China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, told his Israeli counterpart that his country has the right to self-defense against Hamas.

US President Joe Biden underscored the need to sustain “a continuous flow” of humanitarian assistance into Gaza in call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A United Nations special investigator said Israel needs to protect civilians under international law and is banned from targeting schools, hospitals and people fleeing harm.

Fionnuala Ní Aoláin , a law professor at the University of Minnesota, said Israel should avoid making the same “mistake” the United States did following 9/11, when “egregious and systematic violations of human rights” were committed.

“…the cutting off of water and electricity, which indiscriminately and excessively harm civilians, may constitute a war crime,” she added.

Fifteen members of the same family were among at least 33 Palestinians buried in a mass grave at a Gaza hospital on Monday.

Israel on Monday said it struck 320 militant targets throughout the besieged Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours. Over 5,000 Palestinians, including some 2,000 minors, have been killed since the war began, Gaza’s Health Ministry said.

Hospitals in Hamas are facing shortages of fuel, medicine, electricity, and other basic amenities. Premature babies hooked up to incubators are at risk of dying because of dwindling fuel in the Gaza Strip.

After releasing Yocheved Lifshitz and Nurit Cooper in the Gaza Strip on Monday night, the total number of hostages freed by Hamas has increased to four.

Hamas released two other hostages — an American mother and daughter — on Friday.

Hamas is believed to be holding over 200 people, including an unconfirmed number of foreigners and dual nationals.

The International Committee of the Red Cross says Hamas militants have released two hostages who had been held captive in the Gaza Strip.

The hostages were identified by Israeli media as Yocheved Lifshitz and Nurit Cooper of the Israeli kibbutz of Nir Oz.

In a statement, Hamas said it had released them for humanitarian reasons.

Israel has demanded the unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas.
