Irish cloud managed service provider, Ekco, has bought UK based Bluecube Technology Solutions.

Financial details of the deal have not been publicly revealed but Ekco said it would bring its annual revenue to €150m.

The acquisition by the Malahide based company is Ekco’s largest and its fourth in the last 12 months.

It will result in the number of people it employs rising to 860, from just 80 four years ago.

It currently employs more than 200 people in the UK and this latest deal will result in that doubling.

Ekco said the deal will enable IT security services to be delivered in the UK on behalf of its local clients.

It will also enhance Ekco’s critical recovery capabilities there.

“This deal forms a key part of our overall growth strategy, which is driven by a vision of unlocking the full potential of insightful and responsive IT and cyber security solutions to our growing customer base,” said Jonathan Crowe, co-founder and COO of Ekco.

“Having access to Bluecube’s 200+ people, all with specialist skills, as well as their impressive list of customers, made this an easy decision for us.”

“As soon as we met the Bluecube team, we knew they would be a great operational and cultural fit for Ekco and would significantly enhance our ability to serve our UK customers.”

Ekco also has an office in Boston in the US and in October it acquired Waterford-based company Radius.

It also made two other acquisitions in the UK over the past year, including xTEN and iSYSTEM.

It also secured backing of London based B2B technology fund, Corten Capital, with that money being used to propel growth this year.

Ekco was founded in 2016 by Jonathan Crowe and Eoin Blacklock.
