What is the reason for establishing the gallery?
ART at Gallery 2305 is a commitment to acquiring endearing Indigenous art of our time. We are focused on art, history, culture and artists who share their experiences and visions in sharing their stories with the world.

We recognise that Indigenous art is made up of diverse genres and holds different meanings for all people who engage with them; including the artists, who made them, the communities where they were made, outsiders who collected the works and the viewers who learn and experience them.
Part of your visions is to provide platform where talented artists can showcase their innate skills.

Can you share the criteria for selecting the youths?
The criteria for selecting youths to showcase their skills involve a combination of artistic merit, innovation and a commitment to artistic growth. We sort after individuals with a unique voice and dedication in expressing their art and craft experiences.

There are conversations around return of more looted art works from Europe, what’s your opinion on this?
Precious Art amongst many other artefacts were forcefully looted from Africa centuries ago, under guises like religion, trade etc. These arts are part of African realities at the time and history today. Their return is a crucial for cultural restitution. It will promote global cultural heritage preservation and enhance understanding between nations. It’s an important step toward acknowledging historical injustices.

Artificial Intelligence and future of arts, is there any nexus?
Artificial Intelligence and the future of arts are interconnected.

AI can inspire creativity, aid in the artistic process, and even challenge traditional notions of art, offering new avenues for expression and exploration.

Are you looking at Town and Gown partnership—-that is do you intend partnering with institutions of higher learning?
Yes, we are actively exploring Town and Gown partnerships. Collaborating with higher learning institutions provides opportunities for artist development, research initiatives, and a dynamic exchange of ideas.

What do you think President Bola Tinubu should do differently to change the narrative of Arts and culture in the country?
To change the narrative of Arts and culture, the President should inaugurate a focus group dedicated to drive increased funding for the arts, fostering educational programs and promoting policies that encourage public and private support for art and artistic initiatives.

What are your expectations after opening the gallery?
The opening the gallery is expected to cultivate a thriving ecosystem and community to expose the opportunities for talented individuals and contribute to our rich cultural dialogue. We hope to become a hub for creativity and innovation in the arts and preservation of art history for the future.
