Interpath adds trio of new managing directors to UK team

As the firm looks to strengthen its profile in the UK, Interpath Advisory has installed a trio of managing directors to its leadership team. Stuart Reid and Matthew Townsend are promoted to the rank, while Louise Smith joins the firm’s transactions buisness.

In addition, Stuart’s promotion is deserved recognaition for his role in leading some of our biggest advisory mandates in the retail and consumer goods sector, where he has delivered significant value creation projects for a number of global household names.”

Headquartered in London, Interpath the largest independent corporate turnaround firm in Britain. The professional services firm specialises in restructuring and advisory work for clients around the world, having been created from a £400 million carve-out of KPMG’s restructuring wing.

Louise Smith, arrives as a managing Director in the firm’s transaction services business, having recently held a similar role with EY. There, she co-led the firm’s transaction services business in Yorkshire and the North East, advising on a number of high-profile deals spanning sectors including building and construction and industrial products, as well as a number of capital market transactions. Looking ahead, Smith will be based out of Interpath’s Leeds office, and will work alongside corporate finance managing director Heath Snyder in scaling the firm’s deal advisory capabilities across the North.

Matthew Townsend is promoted to managing director for transaction services, having accrued over 15 years’ experience in delivering financial due diligence service to his primarily private equity client base. He joined Interpath in May 2022 to work alongside fellow managing directors Russell Worrall, Graham Lawes and Steven Bunn – helping to grow and scale Interpath’s transaction services business which to date has advised on over 50 transactions with an aggregate deal value of over £3 billion.

Stuart Reid meanwhile becomes a managing director in value creation. He specialises in commercial optimisation and leads the firm’s ‘End to End Economic Profit’ proposition. In recent years, Reid has delivered several of Interpath’s largest advisory projects in the consumer sector, working with some of the biggest retailers and food and drinks businesses in the world.

Elsewhere, the firm has also announced the appointment of five new directors, comprising four promotions and one new hire. Peter Crompton and Lorna Ford have been promoted to director in Interpath’s restructuring team; Joyce Thomson is promoted within the firm’s corporate simplification team; and Paolo Synesiou is promoted within Interpath’s value creation team. In addition, the firm welcomes Arpit Desai, who arrives as a director in Interpath’s M&A tax team.
