The High Court has struck off the urgent roll Hippo’s application to take down Everything.Insure’s Facebook about its quotes differing by 30% to 40% from actual premiums.
The KwaZulu-Natal High Court has struck an application by insurance comparison group Hippo that sought to remove a Facebook post from a rival off the roll.
Everything.Insure posted a Facebook reel in March that told consumers that it’s different to peer Hippo in a number of ways. Among its claims was that its competitor only compares quotes from insurers within its stable, the Telesure group. Telesure includes insurers like 1st for Women, Dial Direct, Budget Insurance and Auto & General.
Everything.Insure also claimed that Hippo only gives “indicative quotes” and the actual premium a consumer can get after talking to the insurers suggested by Hippo’s price comparison could be 40% different than what was quoted.
