(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 15 – Istat said Wednesday that Italy’s
annual inflation rate dropped to 1.7% in October from 5.3% the
previous month.

That was lower that the figure of 1.8% the national statistics
agency had given for the annual inflation rate in October in its
preliminary estimate.
“The slowdown of the annual inflation rate was due to the prices
of non-regulated energy products (from +7.6% to -17.7%), of
regulated energy products (from -27.9% to -31.7%) and, to a
lesser extent, of unprocessed food (from +7.7% to +4.9%) and of
processed food including alcohol (from +8.9% to +7.3%),” Istat
said.

The agency said its consumer price-index was down 0.2% in
month-on-month terms.

Istat said its trolley index of the prices of food and household
and personal-care goods also dropped significantly, falling from
8.1% to 6.1% in year-on-year terms. (ANSA).
