Hajj – an annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia – is considered one of the ‘five pillars’ of Islam. Every Muslim, who is physically and financially capable, is required to undertake the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. There is even a campout checklist for pilgrims moving back and forth between holy sites spread over a length of over 16 kilometres. A pilgrim must be prepared with lightweight tents, sleeping mats and collapsible water pouches. Food that can be easily consumed on the go that doesn’t require refrigeration or utensils.
