IHG Hotels and Resorts is set to add the first UK property under its luxury lifestyle Vignette Collection brand.

The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool will join the collection when it opens later this year.

Owned by Molo Hotels, the 133-room hotel will be located in the Ropewalks district of the city, and will feature a restaurant, fitness centre, conference facilities and rooftop terrace.

IHG launched the luxury lifestyle Vignette brand in 2021, with Hotel X in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley the first to join the brand, followed by properties in Portugal and Thailand.

The group has a target of reaching 100 Vignette properties worldwide over the next ten years, with forthcoming locations including Shanghai and Reit im Winkl on the German/Austrian border in southeastern Bavaria.

Liverpool has seen a spate of new and forthcoming hotels in recent years, with Novotel and Radisson Red properties opening last year, and an MGallery hotel set to open within the city’s Municipal Building next month.

Commenting on the news Mrs Willemijn Geels, VP development, Europe,  IHG Hotels and Resorts, said:

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Vignette Collection to the UK – a new luxury brand in an established market for IHG. Vignette Collection gives strategic partners and owners, like Molo Hotels, the opportunity to retain their distinctive hotel identity, while benefitting from IHG’s global scale, Luxury & Lifestyle expertise, and powerful IHG One Rewards loyalty programme.

“The brand has shown incredible success across the globe in its first year, with 14 hotels signed or opened, which speaks volumes to its emphasis on delivering one-of-a-kind stays and memorable moments alongside a commitment to more responsible travel.

“Liverpool’s popularity continues to grow as a hub of culture and I’m confident the luxury offering of Vignette Collection will bring a new offering to the city.”

IHG currently operates 356 hotels under eight brands across the UK and Ireland, with a further 21 in the pipeline.

Recent openings include Hotel Indigo Exeter, housed within a former House of Fraser department store on the city’s Catherine Street.
