The cold weather wasn’t enough to keep down Suffolk’s support of small businesses. The city saw plenty of residents and vendors fight back the chill to celebrate Small Business Saturday, a local business shopping event held in the heart of Downtown Suffolk on Saturday, Nov. 25.
Nearly 60 vendors participated in the showcase, selling a wide variety of unique products, such as bakery, jewelry, woodcrafts and much more. Lance Stokes of H.R. Woodcrafts expressed how much he enjoyed participating as a vendor during the showcase.
“It’s fun because we get to show off what we make, just working out of our garage and selling the things that we like to make,” Stokes said.
Eartheree Williams, who sold jewelry from her Levora Collection, also noted how the event allowed her to meet new people.
“I met a lot of nice people, they were friendly and we all get together,” Williams said. “It’s like one big party. I enjoy it, I really do.”
During the event, Suffolk Business Development Manager Deanna Holt expressed the importance of the showcase promoting Suffolk’s small businesses. Likewise, she noted how the showcase aims to unite people.
“It’s all about supporting small businesses and bringing people together,” Holt said. “Also bringing good traffic to downtown to help brick and mortar businesses.”
