Hyatt has announced plans to open a Thompson Hotels property in Rome next year as the brand continues its expansion in Europe.
Thompson Hotels, which is promoted as a “luxury lifestyle” brand, plans to open Thompson Rome in mid-2024 when it will become the second property in Europe after the opening of Thompson Madrid last year. Hyatt has already announced plans for a Thompson hotel in Vienna opening in 2025.
The 70-room Thompson Rome will be based in a renovated 1930s building in the centre of the Italian capital. It will also feature four dining outlets, including a rooftop restaurant and terrace with cocktail bar, as well as two meeting rooms and a fitness centre.
Hyatt has been “accelerating” its growth in Italy and Thompson Rome will become the seventh Hyatt-branded hotel in the destination when it opens. Other recent additions include The Tribune Hotel, part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, also in Rome.
Nuno Galvao Pinto, Hyatt’s regional vice president of real estate and development, said: “We know that there is a growing appetite amongst today’s travellers and developers for hotels that cater to culturally savvy guests and bring a modern approach to conventional hospitality.
“We are excited to meet this demand with one of the most exciting new hotels in Rome as we continue to scale our luxury, lifestyle and leisure brands across the region.”
