Hundreds of patients, medical staff and displaced people began evacuating the besieged Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Saturday, as the Israeli military tightens its control of the medical complex, which it says Hamas has used as a military command center.
Hospital officials and Palestinian health authorities said the hospital was evacuated under orders from Israel’s armed forces. Israel’s military denied having issued an evacuation order.
