Decentralized real-time communication (dRTC) network Huddle01, based in Middletown, Delaware, has raised $2.8M in seed money.
The round, which increased the total to $4.5M, was organised by Hivemind and included notable angel investors like Balaji Srinivasan, Stani Kulechov, Dan Romero, and Juan Benet as well as Superscrypt, M31 Capital, Protocol Labs, East Ventures, Longhash Ventures, and Good News Ventures.
The company plans to use the money to expand its ecosystem so that it can support thousands of apps, start up a network of nodes to enable massive communication, and then reward users with tokens.
Ayush Ranjan and Susmit Lavania co-founded Huddle01 with the goal of utilising blockchain and crypto-economics to make real-time communication open, secure, and borderless. The business has logged over a million minutes of meetings on its own video meeting platform, which employs crypto primitives. There are more than 100 projects in categories like social, DAO tooling, education, and the metaverse that are built on top of the infrastructure (developer SDKs). In order to facilitate bottom-up adoption, the company will also tap into the social, gaming, metaverse, and video commerce industries.
