Hong Kong and Indonesia have enjoyed robust bilateral trade relations on a range of products and services over the years. Adding to Hong Kong’s business advantages, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) gathers the latest market intelligence and forms partnerships to develop business for corporations.
Ms Mandy Ng, associate director, business development, exhibitions and digital business at the HKTDC, has announced that five international trade fairs will be held early next year in Hong Kong, which will offer ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from Indonesia to expand their businesses into new markets. These fairs are:
- • HKTDC Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair (Jan. 8-11, 2024)
- • HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair (Jan. 8-11)
- • Hong Kong International Stationery and School Supplies Fair (Jan. 8-11)
- • HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show (Feb. 27 – March 2)
- HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (Feb. 29 – March 4)
“Since the city fully reopened its borders in February, the HKTDC held 24 international trade exhibitions in Hong Kong, attracting over 400,000 buyers and exhibitors from 202 countries and regions, reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a leading trading and convention and exhibition center,” Ms Mandy Ng said.
She looked forward to welcoming more corporations in Indonesia to explore business opportunities and tap into global markets through HKTDC exhibitions. She also highly encouraged all buyers, distributors and retailers from Indonesia to come to Hong Kong for sourcing.
Indonesia is Hong Kong’s 25th-largest trading partner. As of October 2023, the total trade value between the two places was US$3.86 billion. Indonesia was Hong Kong’s 24th major export market with a total export value of US$1.82 billion and the 21st largest import source with an import value of US$2 billion.
