The Pierides Museum – Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Larnaca, Cyprus and Future DMND in Los Angeles, US are honoured to present Andreas Stylianou’s forthcoming solo exhibition, “HOLOMORPHOSIS ” in the museum’s space. The exhibition will be launched on December 14, 2023, at 6 p.m. and will run until February 14, 2024.
The exhibition will be opened by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr Vasiliki Kassianidou.
This exhibition comprises Stylianou’s response to the museum’s treasured permanent collection.
“HOLOMORPHOSIS”, meaning the continuation and completion of the existing emerges as an
immersive and stimulating extrapolation of the historical narrative. By melding contemporary artistic visions with the museum’s esteemed historical collection, the exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to engage with both the ancestral and the new.
Occupying seven spaces within the museum, the showcase shall feature an array of artworks created by Andreas Stylianou during 2022-23. The diverse selection encompasses an intriguing amalgamation of artistic mediums, including luminous neon installations, intricate ceramics, evocative bronze and stainless-steel sculptures, ethereal stained glass compositions, as well as high-powered paintings.
The exhibition will be curated by Katerina Patsalidou.
Through his work, Andreas has been financially supporting the “Miracle Babies” Association (Mora Thavmata) which supports premature newborns and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Makarios Hospital.
In this exhibition, a work worth 2000 euros will be exhibited, which Stylianou will donate to the Association to be raffled off at a separate ceremony.
“HOLOMORPHOSIS” presented by Pierides Museum – Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and Future DMND exemplifies an unwavering commitment to fostering cultural resonance and artistic innovation.
About Andreas Stylianou:
Andreas Stylianou (Cypriot, b.1990) is a contemporary artist currently based in Cyprus. After studying at the Architectural Association in London, he went on to earn a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London and IE Business School in Madrid.
Stylianou’s artistic practice involves exploring a variety of mediums to give life to a previously dormant world. The work evolves through a succession of pieces that express biographical narratives through popular characters, vibrant colours, and techniques that draw upon his architectural background.
Through a combination of intuitive mark-making and meditative painting techniques, the artworks capture the essence of self in relation to time, intersecting with a retrospective examination of contemporary pop culture. The work invites viewers to join him on a journey of self-discovery and contemplation.
Stylianou has participated in several exhibitions in the US, UK, Italy, Hong Kong, and Cyprus.
