IPOH: Leong Shing Ching, the head of the popular Lou Wong Taugeh Chicken, passed away on Friday (Sept 8). He was 48.
He was the third-generation head of the business started in 1957 by the two Wong brothers. They were fondly known as Lou Wong (Old Wong in Cantonese), which was how the restaurant got its name.
According to the Chinese news portals, Leong began helping at the eatery when he was 13. He learned the technique of cooking the chicken and the beansprouts from his uncle.
His hard work paid off when he eventually became the third person in charge of the business when his uncle stepped down to become the advisor.
The reason for Leong’s death has not been made public.
Leong’s wake is being conducted at his home in Taman Desa Harum here, and the funeral will be held on Sunday (Sept 10).
