Harmony Healthcare of Long Island has opened its newly redeveloped $11 million healthcare center in Hempstead.

The 24,000-square-foot facility is at 619 Fulton Ave., a property that was formerly occupied by the Hofstra Law Library.

The redevelopment of the building, spearheaded by Cresa, required a complete core-and-shell building renovation including the installation of new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, ventilation and technology infrastructure. The project also involved construction of the patient waiting room, medical offices, and separate examination rooms for OB/GYN, pediatric, women’s health, specialty services, dental, behavioral health, family medicine practices and a food pantry.

“HHLI is an organization committed to providing premium healthcare services to underserved communities throughout Long Island,” Ronald Zeccardi, senior vice president/project management for Cresa, said in a company statement. “Our mission was to ensure the work was completed in a precise and timely manner to accommodate their extensive services.”

Joining the Cresa team on the healthcare center project were Geddis Architects, Emtec Consulting Engineers and general contractor Shannon Construction.

Cresa is also working with Harmony on the buildout of its new executive offices in Garden City. The 20,000-square-foot space at 400 Oak St. will feature conference rooms, training rooms, simulation lab and collaboration areas. Technology upgrades include smart engines for low-voltage lighting and audio-visual infrastructure.

Also working on the executive office project are TPS Architects, RDA Environmental Engineering, RDT Tech and general contractor Nucor Construction.

The 400 Oak Street LLC affiliate of Harmony acquired the 74,305-square-foot Garden City office building in Oct. 2023 for $13.9 million. Among the tenants at the property are the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and the state’s Department of Labor.

Cresa Long Island broker Ralph Benzakein represented the buyer, while Stephen Wolf of SW Realty Capital represented the seller, Concept 400 Realty Company, LLC, in the Garden City sales transaction.

“We were introduced to this project by Richard Caputi, managing principal of Cresa’s Long Island office, and his colleague Ralph Benzakein, senior vice president,” James Pirot, Cresa managing principal/project management, said in the statement. “It is yet another example of how Cresa offices collaborate together with transaction and project management services for all of our clients’ real estate needs.”
