Gunmen have murdered a school principal and his teacher in Ebonyi State.

The victims, Simon Ominyi and Moses Nwibo of Nkaleke Echara Community Secondary School, Ojiegbe, were murdered on October 13 in the school.

The Ebonyi State Government, in a statement on Monday, condemned the gruesome murder of a school principal and his teacher by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The Commissioner for Education, Paul Nwobashi, described the act as “sad and condemnable” and said that security agencies in the state had been alerted and charged to fish out the perpetrators.

“Governor Francis Nwifuru has been briefed on the matter, and he has contacted security agencies, especially the police,” Nwobashi said.

“He has asked them to swing into action and ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.

The commissioner assured the teachers that the state government was working to improve security in schools.

“They should also know that security is everybody’s business. The state government is not going to take it lightly and we are not happy about it,” Nwobashi noted.
