Gunmen kidnap four Nasarawa university students

Four students of Nasarawa State University, Kerri, have been kidnapped by gunmen.

The kidnapped students are all first-year students of the school.

The victims are Rahila Hanya from Science Laboratory Technology; Josephine Gersho, Computer Science; Rosemary Samuel from Business Administration and Goodness Samuel from Geography departments respectively.

It was gathered that the students were abducted on Tuesday when the gunmen invaded their lodge at Angwan Kare, a settlement of the Keffi Local Government Area.

The Nasarawa Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the incident.

According to him, the State Police Command received a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday that a house at Angwan Kare was attacked by gunmen.

“The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men.

“The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.”

He said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescue the victims unhurt.

On Wednesday 4th October, 2023, five female students of the Federal University in Dutsin-Ma town, Katsina, were kidnapped.
Also, in the early hours of Friday 22 September, 2023, students of the Federal University of Gusau in Zamfara State were kidnapped by bandits.

About 24 students were kidnapped after the bandits invaded the Sabon-Gida community of the Bungudu Local Government Area in the state.
