Many Nigerians have been celebrating their big wins on Green Lotto. Some of the lucky winners shared their stories of how they struck gold and what they plan to do with their money.
Michael Olawale, a winner from Ondo State who won N9.5 million, said he was overjoyed when he saw his numbers were among the winning numbers. “Green Lotto changed my life,” he says. “Now I can make my family happy and start my own small business.”
Mr. Joel Ogbeide, a 37-year-old mechanic in Lagos won N5 million. The father of two had been struggling to make ends meet and was facing threat from his landlord over unpaid rent and his children being withdrawn from school due to unpaid fees.
Another winner who won N1, 750, 000 but wants to remain anonymous said he was shocked when he checked his ticket and saw he had matched the winning numbers in the draw. “It was unbelievable. I thought it was a joke. I checked the ticket again and again and called the Green Lotto helpline to confirm it,” he said.
A winner from Owerri, Imo State, said he bought his ticket at a lottery shop on his way home from work. He said he was glad when he won. “I couldn’t stop smiling and dancing. I called my family to share the good news,” he said.
Austin Soremekun, another winner from Lagos who won N500, 000, says Green Lotto has made his dreams come true. “I’m so grateful to Green Lotto for this opportunity. I can now pay off my debt.” he says.
Some winners who came to the Green Lotto headquarters to claim their prizes attributed their success to luck, destiny and God. Tunde Babalola, who won N500, 000 said: “I thank God for this miracle. I also thank Green Lotto for making my dreams come true. This is a turning point for me and I hope to use it wisely,” he said.
