We’ve opened the latest round of funding for our Growing Great Places programme. We run this programme in partnership with Spacehive – a community crowd funding platform.
If you are a group from anywhere in Kirklees who are aiming to start crowdfunding this summer, you could receive an initial pledge of up to £5,000 from us to get you started.
Dozens of local groups and organisations have already been successful, with their projects being backed by almost 1,500 local people and organisations.

How local people can shape their environment
Holme Deliveries
Crowdfunding with Growing Great Places has helped EPIKs (Environmental Protection in Kirklees). The not-for-profit volunteer run organisation introduced e-cargo bikes for delivery services in the Holme Valley. They want people to help them start a cleaner, greener way to boost local business by delivering goods in an environmentally friendly way. 66 people and organisations backed the project, which raised £22,099.
Save Our Space in Outlane
Outlane Methodist Church needed to raise money to keep their community building open. So they can support many weekly community groups. They raised £9,670 from 44 backers.
Riverside Way Revamp
River Holme Connections wanted to reverse 20 years of neglect by improving the footpath surface and drainage on the 9.6 mile Riverside Way walking route. They raised £23,902 from 82 backers to make their project possible.
These are just a few of the ways that Growing Great Places projects are helping their communities to connect and thrive – and we’re keen to support many more.
