Brock continues to raise its profile all around the globe, most recently with a trip by Goodman School of Business Dean Barry Wright to one of the world’s most populous countries.
Wright just returned from two weeks in India, where he met with high school students, current applicants, Brock alumni and representatives from partner institutions.
He also met with Anuj Bhasin, Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada to India, and Meena Bhullar, First Secretary and Trade Commissioner, and took part in a live social media session with a student placement agency, broadcast to more than 112,000 followers.
“This trip was a fantastic opportunity to tell our Brock story,” says Wright. “Like young people everywhere, students in India value quality educational experiences that prepare them for life and work in the 21st century — and that’s exactly the kind of opportunity that Goodman School of Business and Brock offer.”
According to projections by the United Nations, India’s population is more than 1.4 billion people, including 254 million people between the ages of 15 and 24.
“These trips offer a chance for Brock to enhance its international reputation and strengthen our existing partnerships in one of the largest countries in the world ,” says Wright. “It was a wonderful chance to meet with applicants and hear their enthusiasm for Brock and Canada. I am excited to see them on campus in September.”
In addition to international interest, Brock has seen a significant jump in the number of applications from Ontario high school students wanting to study at the University this fall.
Applications for undergraduate programs rose by 13 per cent overall this year, with each of Brock’s six Faculties seeing their own increases.
The rising interest in applying to Brock far outpaced the average increase to university applications across the province, which was 2.9 per cent.
