Gleneagles, the iconic Scottish hotel and global luxury destination, has again been recognised as the ‘World’s No.1 Golf Resort’ outside the USA, a title it has now held for four consecutive years.

Coming soon after being named ‘Best Golf Resort’ at the 2023 Business Traveller Awards, this latest accolade from the raters at Golf World described the 850-acre Perthshire estate as a ‘bewilderingly extensive’ luxury experience with ‘sumptuous rooms and a feeling of grandeur’.

Gleneagles received full marks in both the amenities and accommodation categories which helped it to no.2 in the overall global rankings, which were topped by Bandon Dunes in Oregon, USA.

Conor O’Leary, Managing Director at Gleneagles, said: “To be consistently critically-acclaimed as one of the world’s leading golf and leisure destinations, benchmarked against a host of incredible resorts across the globe, is welcome praise for the luxury experience we offer our guests, and wonderful recognition for our dedicated team.”

Gleneagles is the only venue in Europe to have staged both The Ryder Cup (2014) and The Solheim Cup (2019). It also welcomed the Senior Open to The King’s Course in 2022, and remains the clear no.1 golf resort in the UK & Ireland, a title it has held for eight consecutive years.

Gleneagles’ three championship golf courses all feature in numerous Top 100 rankings in their own right. The King’s and The Queen’s courses, regarded as James Braid classics, have benefitted from significant renovation projects in recent years, restoring them to their original ‘inland links’ and heathland designs.

The PGA Centenary Course, a pristine modern design by Jack Nicklaus, is currently undergoing a major irrigation upgrade, and will re-open to golfers in spring next year.

Beyond the fairways, Gleneagles’ guests can unwind and relax at the hotel, where a wealth of food and drink options await, including The Strathearn, the theatrical Franco-Scottish dining experience, the Birnam, a vibrant and relaxed Italian-American grill, where the finest cuts are seared, slow cooked and grilled to perfection, or toast the day’s play in Auchterarder 70, overlooking the 18th greens of The King’s and Queen’s.

Gleneagles also boasts more than 50 pursuits, including fly-fishing, falconry, cycling, off-roading, equestrian experiences and archery. Guests have use of a range of leisure facilities, including the pitch-and-putt course, lawn games and outdoor tennis courts.

Golf World’s Top 100 World Resorts editor, Chris Bertram, concluded: “Gleneagles is an incredible World #2 and it offers a wonderful all-round golf package with something for everyone, supported by hospitality and leisure pursuits that are simply first class. I have visited on numerous occasions and the experience really is exceptional.”
