Gigi Hadid has been arrested on marijuana possession as the model claims the drug was “purchased legally”. Model Hadid has been released from custody in the Cayman Islands after being arrested for being in possession of marijuana.
Gigi and a friend arrived via a private plane and custom officials are said to have found “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in their luggage. She was arrested at Owen Roberts International Airport.
Cayman Marl Road reports the duo were arrested on “suspicion Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja.” They were taken to Prisoner Detention Center before being released on bail.

Consumption of recreational cannabis is prohibited/illegal in any form (smoking, vaping, topicals, or edibles) in the Cayman Islands. In 2016, the governor of the British Overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands approved a change to the Misuse of Drugs Law to allow the importation and use of CBD oil for medical purposes.
They pleaded guilty and were both fined $1,000, according to Cayman Marl Road. They are not facing any charges. “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license,” her rep told E! News.
“It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017.
