Dorset Council has given consent for redundant farm buildings at Eden Park, Castle Lane, Buckland Newton to be used for a company specialising in event management, storage and the making of temporary bars.
Marcus White Ltd say the building was once a pig unit but will now be used to create bespoke cocktail bars for a range of events in private locations throughout Dorset, including weddings and parties.
Only a small number of staff will be on site with most of the work for clients taking place on their own properties with the materials used for the bars capable of being transported by van.
Neighbours did not object to the application but raised concerns about an increase in traffic to and from the site, one claiming that Buckland Newton, for the first time, now has a “rush hour” each day with staff from other businesses on the site going to the site and later leaving.
Buckland Newton parish council raised no objections and Dorset Highways said it could not see any problems with the increased use of the site.
The building to be used is 120 metres away from the nearest home, Millers Farm.
