1 Forth Ports is aiming to create a hub for floating offshore wind turbines as part of its net zero ambitions.
Charles Hammond, the chief executive, announced the plan for its facility at Burntisland, Fife, to become a major player in the sector.
The Forth estuary is said to have the infrastructure, land and deep water required to provide logistics, marshalling, manufacturing and marine services.
That came alongside a blueprint for the company to be carbon neutral by 2032 and having net zero carbon emissions by 2042.
