Ahead of the inaugural Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix on Nov. 19, American Express and Formula 1 have announced a multi-year regional partnership. The partnership makes the company the official payments partner for the Americas races in Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo, Las Vegas, Miami and Montreal.
This multi-year sponsorship with Formula 1 marks the first new sport Amex has sponsored in more than 10 years, and the global integrated payments company’s first multi-market sports partnership.
“The F1 fan base and viewership has grown exponentially over the past several years, so we are thrilled to bring the exclusive access and unique experiences that American Express is known for to our card members and racing fans,” said Elizabeth Rutledge, chief marketing officer at American Express. “The addition of F1 to our global portfolio of partnerships helps us continue to create meaningful value for our customers, in the areas they’re most passionate about.”
As the F1 Americas official payments partner, card members will have access to a range of special benefits including F1 ticket experiences at all the Americas races including the Paddock Club and Grandstand tickets. The company will also be able to host its business customers and partners at Americas region races.
Earlier this year at the Miami Grand Prix, American Express teamed up with Carbone to host a four-day beachside supper club timed to the star-studded race weekend.
Ahead of this upcoming weekend’s United States Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday, eligible card members will have access to complimentary Amex Race Radios and a gift with purchase at F1 stores.
Similarly, at the upcoming 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix—the third Formula 1 race in the U.S. — American Express is set to host fan experiences for American Express card members and their guests. Card members will additionally have access to complimentary Amex Race Radios, a gift with merchandise purchase and more.
Notably, Amex will also be supporting F1’s Academy. F1 Academy is an all-female racing series initiative spearheaded by managing director and former Scottish motorsports driver, Susie Wolff, committed to creating equal opportunities in the sport for women and growing women’s participation in motorsport, both on and off the track.
