Ford Swings to Profit, Withdraws Guidance Citing Impact of UAW Strike

Ford Motor posted $1.2 billion in net income in the third quarter, swinging from a loss in the prior-year period, but it withdrew its guidance for the year, citing the impact of the United Auto Workers strike.

Revenue rose 11% from the year-ago period to $43.8 billion in revenue, boosted by strong sales of its highly profitable pickup trucks. Its pretax profit, excluding one-time items, of $2.2 billion.
