Ryan Petersen, the recently returned CEO of Flexport, outlined a new leadership structure on Friday that includes many longtime loyalists, according to a person with direct knowledge of the reorganization, as the company seeks to recover from a steep drop in revenue. The changes, announced in an all-hands meeting held hours after Flexport laid off hundreds of people, mark Petersen’s latest move to reshape Flexport in the five weeks since returning as CEO after he and the company’s board ousted former Amazon executive Dave Clark.
Under the new structure, outlined in The Information’s Flexport org chart, 14 executives will report directly to Petersen. Several of the executive team members are longtime Flexport employees who have taken on new or expanded roles following the departures of top executives that Clark had recruited to join the company. At least 10 executives have left the company or been fired in the month since Petersen and the company’s board ousted Clark and Petersen returned to the top job, including Flexport’s top engineering, finance and legal leaders.
