According to Bloody Disgusting, Candyman star Tony Todd has reportedly been tapped to reprise his role as coroner William Bludworth in New Line Cinema’s upcoming Final Destination 6. The film is expected to center around first responders.
Bludworth has appeared in three installments of the supernatural horror franchise, including the original film in 2000, its 2003 sequel, and 2011’s Final Destination 5. In the first movie, Todd’s Bludworth was introduced as the eerie owner of Bludworth Funeral Homes. He was the one who explained the rules of death to Devon Sawa’s Alex Browning.
Who’s Involved in Final Destination 6?
Final Destination 6 will be directed by filmmaking duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, whos known for directing the 2018 sci-fi thriller Freaks. The screenplay is written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick, who is the co-scribe behind Ready or Not and the upcoming Scream reboot.
The project is produced by Spider-Man No Way Home’s Jon Watts and Dianne McGunigle will be joining the producing team of franchise producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor. The sixth installment has been in development since 2019, where the project was described as a re-imagining of the horror-thriller franchise.
Since its the original film’s released in 2020, the franchise had earn a combined worldwide gross of over $660 million. The first movie centered on a small group of people who manage to narrowly avoid dying in a plane crash after one of them had a vision of it. However, death won’t let them get away easily, as each of them gets killed off in a series of bizarre accidents.
