WASHINGTON—The Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged at a 22-year high and signaled rates would remain elevated well into next year to keep inflation moving down.
“The committee is proceeding carefully,” Fed Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday during a press conference where he danced around questions over whether the central bank was leaning toward raising rates at its December policy meeting.
