FBM KLCI continues losing streak, Parkson most active stock

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI finished lower on Friday, marking its second day of losses, in line with its regional peers.

The market bellwether closed down 1.89 points, or 0.13% at 1,446.09 after hitting an intraday high of 1,449.23. For the week, the FBM KLCI fell 11.07 points or 0.8%.

Market breadth was negative with 552 securities ending in the red against 380 that closed higher. Turnover was at 3.18 billion shares valued at RM2.11bil.

In today’s session, 12 of the KLCI-component stocks closed lower while 15 counters chalked up gains.

Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) was the top loser, falling 42 sen to RM26.78, followed by PETRONAS Dagangan, which eased 22 sen to RM22.50, and Heinken, which lost 20 sen to RM26.38.

Among the gainers, Nestle rose 50 sen to RM132, Rapid added 46 sen to RM23.30 and Malayan Cement gained 40 sen to RM3.87.

Parkson, the most active counter on Bursa Malaysia, rose 7.5 sen, or 34.09% to 29.5 sen with 121.06 million shares traded. The counter has risen over 110% so far this year.

Elsewhere in the region, Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.55%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index eased 2.05%, South Korea’s Kospi closed down 0.61% and China’s CSI 300 fell 1.23%.
