BROOME CO., N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County (CCE Broome) and the Small Business Development Center at Binghamton University (SBDC) are excited to announce a unique opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs. Presenting a six-week virtual series, the Farm & Food Business Start Up Training promises to equip participants with essential knowledge and resources to kickstart their farm or food-based businesses.

The 6-week virtual series is scheduled to run from October 26th to December 7th (with an exception for Thanksgiving on November 23rd). The program, offered at a cost of $75 per farm, includes an Entreskills tool, access to expert advice, and confidential consultations with CCE Broome and SBDC for up to one year.

Participants will be treated to an enriching experience, featuring guest speakers such as a farm accountant, agricultural lender, lawyer, insurance/risk management expert, and a panel of established farm and food business owners. Each session will encompass guest presentations, interactive group discussions, and practical exercises to apply the concepts discussed directly to their own business ideas.

Throughout the six weeks, attendees will delve into critical topics, including the components of a business plan, resource identification, risk evaluation and mitigation, financial management, and marketing strategies. This comprehensive series aims to provide participants with the knowledge and support network needed to develop a strong foundation for their farm or food businesses.
