Through its subsidiary Eurus Energy Europe BV, the Japanese firm is finalising the design and contracts for the project, anticipating an investment decision in 2024.

Named Oosterhorn Hydrogen, the plant is planned to begin commercial operations in 2025. Once up and running, it will be integrated with the 38.7-MW Eurus-owned Windpark Mondriaan which is located nearby.

The green hydrogen from the plant will be used to power local industries and will help reduce congestion on the local electricity grid, Eurus noted.
