The ENVISION H2020 project, in collaboration with SPACE4GREEN and MEF4CAP projects, recently took part in the 59th Panta Rhei Conference organised by the Panta Rhei association of EU Paying Agencies.
The conference, held biannually, brings together IT specialists to explore information technology advancements, enhance information security, and adapt to new requirements.
At the conference, the main focus was on preparing information systems to support the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), with particular emphasis on monitoring systems and potential technical solutions for data management and reporting systems.
Area monitoring, a critical aspect of the CAP, involves the systematic observation and assessment of agricultural activities and practices on agricultural areas using Copernicus Sentinel Satellite data or equivalent data.
During the workshop, ENVISION showcased the results of several business cases involving Cypriot, Lithuanian and Flemish Paying Agencies. These cases provided insights into the services and tools utilised during a two-year pilot implementation phase.
“ENVISION, SPACE4GREEN, and MEF4CAP joined forces to host a workshop during the conference’s first day. The workshop aimed to present and discuss innovative solutions from these projects that can contribute to automated decision-making systems in the context of CAP monitoring,” Manolis Tsantakis told Neos Kosmos.
Tsantakis is an Economist (MSc), Vice President and Projects’ Director of ETAM SA (Heraklio, Greece) and Member of the Board of Directors of ITANOS Ltd (ETAM’s subsidiary in Nicosia, Cyprus).
The workshop’s discussions also included valuable feedback from stakeholders, highlighting their needs and requirements for future monitoring and evaluation systems.
“ENVISION would like to express its sincere gratitude for giving this opportunity and participating in the 59thPanta Rhei Conference,” Tsantakis said expressing that he looks forward to contributing further to advancements in area monitoring within the Common Agricultural Policy.
