Efforts to diversify the venture capital industry have been losing steam, strained by a market downturn as well as a broader debate about such programs in corporate America. 

A case in point is the Diversity Rider, an initiative that sought to bring in Black, Latino, female and other underrepresented co-investors into startup deals. The initiative took off in 2020 but its momentum has since stalled.
