Emirates will provide a new inflight meal pre-ordering service across its European routes following an initial launch on UK flights, the carrier announced on Friday (15 September).

The service will now be rolled out across routes to and from European cities including Warsaw, Venice, Rome, Bologna, Prague, Vienna, Moscow, Istanbul, Dublin, Hamburg, St. Petersburg, Brussels and Madrid, as well as to and from Seychelles and Mauritius.

The new service allows passengers in business class to preselect their main course between 14 days and 24 hours prior to departure via the carrier’s website or app.

The Gulf carrier said the initiative will help to facilitate menu planning and reduce food wastage.

The service will be extended across more global routes “in the coming months”.

The move is the latest in the carrier’s efforts to digitise operations and services, including phasing out printed boarding passes from its Dubai hub and extending free inflight wifi connectivity.
