Nigerian businessmen and women have been called upon to embrace ethical solid standards in their business dealings to achieve growth of their business.
The Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, made the call as guest speaker at the 40th Anniversary Luncheon andInstallation of the 41st President of Rotary Club of Ogba, with the theme, “A Commitment to Strong Ethics and Robust Corporate Performance.”
He said: “Ethical conduct nurtures trust, which is the lifeblood of business relationships. When a company consistently exhibits ethical behaviour, it establishes a reputation for trustworthiness. This trust, in turn, leads to loyal customers, contented employees, and enduring partnerships. It is no coincidence that the world’s most esteemed and successful companies are often recognised for their ethical business practices.”
Kwairanga, who is the current Chairman of Ashaka Cement PLC and the Sarkin Fulanin Gombe, also warns about the consequences of unethical behaviours in business.
He said: “Unethical behaviour can lead to legal and regulatory complications, harm to reputation, and financial liabilities. By adhering to robust ethical standards companies can mitigate these risks ensuring their continued growth and stability.’’
He advised corporate organisations to take business ethics seriously for the nation to benefit from the advantages it brings.
