Electro Africa, an Afrocentric media, lifestyle and events company, has hosted the maiden edition of Sneakerheads Fest in Benin, Edo state Capital. Electro Africa is the brainchild of Goodluck Raphael, Victor Raphael and Seun Ndidi.

The event, hosted on the premises of Nigerian Television Authority Benin, brought together sneaker lovers in Benin and neighbouring cities.

Goodluck Raphel, one of the Co-Founders of Electro Africa, said it was a day full of cool sneakers, music, art, and fun.

“We noticed that people want to have fun, and we decided to put this together for them to network, connect and express their passion for lifestyle, music, and art while wearing their favourite sneakers,” he said.

The event was organised to allow small businesses, especially vendors, to showcase their products and network.

“We were particular about our choices of vendors at this event because we wanted to give small businesses opportunities to expand and make economic gains while having fun. We were happy to have over 40 of them at this event, and feedback showed they sold out many times,” Raphael added.

The event brought together over 3,500 guests — the largest gathering of sneakerheads in Nigeria — who all had fun for over 10 hours that the event lasted. The event saw home-grown artists like BennyDBoy and SpicePriezt performing in front of an excited audience.

The event also featured games, rap battles, music contests and dance competitions. Also, participants with the best sneakers got rewarded.

Osarumen Angela, a vendor at the event, thanked the organisers for putting the event together, which offered her an opportunity to sell her products.

“I sold out my products three times. The Sneakerheads Fest event was a fantastic medium for me because it allowed me to make sales, expand my business and have fun,” she said.
