Travel management company Egencia is to allow “guest” travellers working for clients to use more of its services.
Egencia, which is now part of American Express Global Business Travel, will allow temporary travellers and workers who do not have their own profiles to use self-service booking and emergency support services.
The move is designed to make booking travel easier and quicker for these “invited” travellers, as well as increasing visibility and policy compliance for these types of workers.
John Sturino, VP of product and technology at Egencia, said: “With the new world of work, we are seeing changing patterns in the way companies travel. Booking business travel for non-employees of a company is on the rise, whether it is inviting job candidates for face-to-face interviews, onboarding remote employees or bringing in contractors.”
Egencia has held a pilot for the new features with 20 clients in Europe and North America and this process has helped to shape these innovations. They will be available to all Egencia customers by early April.
New features include self-service and profiles for guest travellers, as well as flexible configuration allowing clients to choose the services that these travellers can use. Access can also be time-restricted to make it easier for travel managers to remove temporary accounts.
