It comes just one week after EasyJet launched its new service to Egypt from Belfast International Airport.

The new winter flights to Hurghada got under way on October 31.

It’s understood EasyJet will also continue to expand its operation at Belfast City Airport, by adding flights to Alicante from May 2024.

The airline currently operates flights to six destinations in Britain from the airport: Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and Bristol.

The new spring/summer 2024 services follow EasyJet’s biggest ever operation in Northern Ireland over the summer of 2023.

The carrier introduced an eighth aircraft to its Aldergrove base ahead of the peak summer months.

It’s understood the Alicante and Enfidha services will fly twice weekly from Belfast City and Belfast International, while the Larnaca service will fly three times per week out of the International Airport.

EasyJet’s flights from Belfast International to Larnaca in Cyprus will begin in May 2024.

EasyJet also recently introduced a Southampton service at Belfast International, which is now operating three times a week on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Meanwhile, work is continuing at the Co Antrim airport on a £25 million new security hall, which is part of a £100m five-year investment plan by its French owner Vinci.

The new hall will see 3D scanners introduced from June 2024, spelling an end to the 100ml liquid rule for boarding aircraft.
