YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University is introducing a new academic program designed to fill a critical career need among working professionals to enhance their skills as innovative and strategic leaders. The University’s Board of Regents approved a new Master of Science in Management of Innovation and Strategy at today’s (Oct. 19, 2023) meeting.
Participants in the program will gain access to tools and techniques for fostering creativity, managing strategic plans, and communicating effectively as leaders.
“Leading innovation and strategy development for businesses large and small has never been more important,” said Rhonda Longworth, Eastern Michigan University provost and executive vice president for academic and student affairs. “The pace of change in all facets of today’s business environment requires leadership to be more nimble than ever. This new program will enable our graduates to develop innovative and creative strategies to tackle the most pressing of organizational challenges.”
Scheduled to launch in fall 2024, the new program is designed to attract professionals from Southeast Michigan. Since the majority of Michigan’s largest employers are located in Detroit, the program will be based in downtown Detroit. Classes will meet twice a week during lunch hours in order to make it as convenient as possible for working professionals. Faculty with doctoral degrees will teach the courses with regular guest lectures from senior business executives.
The program will employ a range of teaching methods, such as business case studies, simulations, and projects, to provide students with a hands-on learning experience. Small class sizes will ensure that students receive personalized attention.
