Driver hits second house and walks away: Olmsted Falls Police Blotter

Car crash: Cyprus Lane

Police got a call at 9:49 a.m. Sept. 26 that a car struck a house. There was no one in the car now. The caller heard something about 10 or 15 minutes ago and saw an older woman walking through the backyard. She was walking away from the car. An officer noted there was some damage to the structure. He asked the fire department to respond to check it out. The car sheared off part of the gas meter. The officer smelled a slight odor of natural gas. Columbia Gas was contacted. The officer spoke with the owner of the car. She said she fainted. There seemed to be no injuries, but she wanted the squad to check on her. Police also found the driver hit another house on Holly Lane. The driver was cited for reasonable control. The car was towed. She declined a ride to the hospital.

Parked car: Main Street

Police went to a location at 8:40 p.m. Sept. 22 for a car that was blocking a business entrance. They were told no one could get in and out of the driveway. Police tried to leave a voicemail for its owner, but it was full. The officer learned that it was blocking half of the driveway and cars could go around it to get to the business. An officer finally spoke to the owner who said he would move it.

Suspicious vehicle: Water Street

An officer saw a parked car at 11:49 p.m. Sept. 22. He advised those inside of the car about park hours, of which they were violating.

Traffic stop: Bagley Road

An officer cited a motorist for speeding at 12:59 a.m. Sept. 23.

Found property: Mill River Road

Someone from Mill River condos called Sept. 23 that a blue and yellow bike was in the river. It was in about 6 feet of water. The caller said it may have just been dumped there.

Car crash: Cook Road

Police went to a two-car crash at 4:13 p.m. Sept. 23. It was a head-on collision. Smoke was coming from one vehicle. Air bags had deployed and all occupants were outside the cars. One person suffered a cut on the forehead. Both vehicles were towed. Later, police went to a Twin Oaks residence and advised her about driving on a closed road.

General assistance: Columbia Road

An officer Sept. 23 advised a bride and groom they could not take photos on the railroad tracks. He returned about a 30 minutes later and told more people at that location about being on the tracks.

Warrant served: Columbia Road

A motorist had active warrants and would not stop for an officer Sept. 23. He drove down Riverview Point Care Center Drive. He also had a temporary restraining order and was wanted by Middleburg Heights, Cleveland and North Olmsted police. An officer took him into custody. Middleburg Heights police wanted to meet for a transfer. The suspect was also cited for having no Ohio driver’s license and child restraint. The car’s owner arrived and took possession of the car.

Reckless operation: Fernwood Drive

A caller contacted police Sept. 24 about an ongoing issue of a loud, speeding motorcycle that runs through the apartment complex. The caller gave police the motorcycle’s license number and told them where they could find the parked motorcycle. An officer went to the complex and spoke with the motorcycle owner about the complaints.

Parked vehicles: Columbia Road

An officer cited three cars Sept. 26 for parking on the street and blocking a fire hydrant.
