“The Australian Financial Review’s new Android app expands our suite of digital offerings, including our iOS app, newsletters, podcasts and of course afr.com, that deliver the country’s best news, business and political coverage to subscribers in ways that they want to consume it,” editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury said.
“We know that the rising cost of living and tighter economic times are putting pressure on subscriptions as consumers and businesses look to cut discretionary spending,” Mr Stutchbury said. “That makes it even more important that we give our readers more value for their subscription. The new Android app does that.
“Readers will get the latest news, analysis and in-depth reporting from across the Financial Review newsroom, from Canberra to Washington and beyond. Across all facets of our coverages, from politics to the C-suite, the energy transition to corporate results and the best of luxury lifestyle and magazine features, in a great looking and easy to use format.“
The latest Roy Morgan industry data shows the Financial Review’s monthly readership across print and online increased by 100,000 in the final three months of last year to 3.6 million, and that the national business newspaper has the third-highest digital audience in Australia after The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
But news subscriptions are under pressure after a period of strong growth during the pandemic, and industry analysts say consumers are prioritising quality news amid economic uncertainty.
